Spring Garden

Ahhh horray! Today marks the first day of spring! We’ve had a few sunny days now and it’s totally got me thinking about this years garden. Last year I had some failures and this year I want to keep it SIMPLE.

When I say simple I’m thinking potatoes, corn, maybe peas cause who doesn’t love peas? I’d love to do spinach and some greens but I’m not sure I have the light and right soil for the leafy greens ☀

I did potatoes last year however they only multiplied a few and they were very small. I’ve been thinking about my garden staples, those veggies I want to grow every single year. What’s your garden staple?🌱

I would love to grow daikon radishand lotus root. Lotus root is a Chinese root, it is delicious. Have you had experience growing either of these veggies? I don’t know where to start!

DIY Jewelry Box Makeover

Hi blog friends!

I don’t do much DIY…or makeovers for that matter! But one of my favourite things to do is wander through thrift stores…trust me, I spend hours doing this. That’s where I found this jewelry box. I only have 2 necklaces BUT I thought one day I might have more and I wanted to start a project!

Please keep in mind this is no Pinterest special DIY project. This is literally me finding  an old $3 jewelry box, dollar store acrylic paint & brushes, and me going wild with paint.

This was a very quick project – I did it over the course of 2 mornings, however you could easily finish this in a couple hours. Like I said I found this (somewhat hideous) shade of blue(green?) at the dollar store, picked up a few paint brushes and just started to paint. I didn’t sand the wood, and as you can see I didn’t even take the handles off the drawers. This might’ve been my biggest mistake…I would’ve liked to keep the handles unpainted, but I made a mistake and couldn’t rub the paint off, so I just painted them all. WOOPS! I suppose another change I would’ve liked to make is a less dreadful colour – but live and learn, right?

Now I move onto painting the walls in our house – in a lovely grey colour. Will have to show you pictures once it’s finished. 🙂

What sort of DIY do you do? What should my next project be?
